2 States: Marriage of Two Culture

A wonderful love story of common people happened also with one of the leader of Youngistan namely Chetan Bhagat, A well known writer and most promising youth icon of India. One of his most popular novellas is “2 States” and Abhishek Varman just had directed movie upon this novella with the same title. If we read the novella and then we went to watch the movie, we find some changes (editing) in it. If we start from beginning, the scene when Ananya used to give flying kiss during the class and they used to pass the massages threw their friends, when Krish came to Delhi before joining his job at that time he met Dolly (Pummy aunty’s daughter) at coffee cafe, how Krish has to face trouble due to his boss Bala in Chennai and  at last when he went to Shree Aurobindo Ashram where he met a Guruji and realize to forgive his father and after marriage their reception party where Ananya’s father gave a speech on marriage and their culture these are some scenes which we didn’t find in movie. The movie had put on so much light on Krish and his Father’s relation, but in book I find that some where Krish kept silent about his father and at last he reveal all the past in front of Ananya.

After watching movie I realized that to write a novel is not an easy task. A writer has to portray each of the emotions with full of expression. In movie, we can express our emotions threw our face but in book we have to describe each and every emotion in detailed. In “2 States” novella Chetan Bhagat had described all the emotions and thoughts very clearly and perfectly. We can easily create the situation in our mind and also get laughter when he compares his thought with such funny things. After reading the novella, we can proudly say that he is one of the best expressive writers of young India.

When I was gone to watch the movie, I was already prepared for a dish of “Great Love of Each Relation” so it’s next to impossible for me to control on my tears for a second. The roll of Krish was played by Arjun Kapoor and Aliya Bhatt had played of Ananya. Both are very famous among youngsters so took them as a lead is one of the masterstrokes and “Chetan Bhagat’s brand value had must to reach the success, so there is no doubt about the success of the movie.

If we talk about the soul of the novella “Culture and Love” then words are become less to describe them. In India, we have to look after so many things before doing marriage. The scene when Ananya’s family and Krish had a lunch at beach and Krish was proposing to Ananya’s family by giving rings of gold that indicates that how we have to make each one happy. One has to satisfy them with money and with full guarantee also. The scene itself speaks louder. Even one of the best bond of father and the son is also makes have the communication of silence and I can say that a Son is totally incomplete without his Father. Krish was rude to his father and there was the reason behind that but at the right time when his son has really need of him, His father was just next to him. That was the proud moment for their relation. They also shared the room when his father came to hotel where they had stayed, that scene also touches my heart because Krish had after twenty years felt that he had a father and same for his father (Scene from novella).

It is easy to say that we believe in culture but the tradition of marriage has some options like Love marriage. But still some people don’t believe in this culture. Krish and Anaya’s family were totally different from each other. They have disagreement in everything, that somehow because of their culture differences. In India every person has his own culture. We can’t deny that culture is good thing but somewhere it affects to common people much. If Ananya and Krish were well known personality then they didn’t has to face this family war, but every common people first think about his community and after that about his children (own happiness). We can say that before thinking of our betterment, we think that what other would think and that is the biggest problem of our. India is country but for Indian, he or she is the people of state and after that he became an Indian. That’s the disease of our Indian culture. Culture always should be individual and free of barriers. One disease with which we suffer is,

                “Duniya me sabse bada rog,

                Kya sochenge log”

Remove this disease from yourself as soon as possible.
